Name brand VS China brand…Which one should I go with?
Im looking to get a new stereo for my car and i cant decide wich one to go with.
Here are my 2 Favorite:
1. Clarion CX400.

I like the Clarion cause its a good name brand a little cheaper and since it a name brand im guessing the audio quality will be better. But i also like the Innovatek cause it can do a little more and has better screen.
Btw i have an INNOVATEK product installed right now and its not that bad.
Always go for the name brand when the other option is China-made.
Almost every case, the Chinese made product is a copy of something else with cost cutting methods such as cheaper materials and less skilled production methods.

I was thinking of buying this http://www.radioshack.com/product/i… …. from radioshack but i have no aux port, and no cassete area, just a cd because its a truck. I need help installing a JVC stereo in my car?
JVC KD-radio and the car is HDR30 is 2004 chevy malibu classic. i tried to install, but the power is not presented, but I'm still and cds can insert removal. i check in the trouble shooting page and that check in the yellow wire and I did not have juice.
Your answer is very simple (well, not really) The radio is probably fine and that most likely connected all cables correctly. Although the problem is that with the new GM vehicles, the ignition wire (red) does not put a total of 12 volts. Your radio needs to turn 12 volts. The CD can still drive because the radio has a feature that lets you insert and eject CD's with the car off. In that case, the cable is constant (yellow) to solve the problem, have to run a new power cable or find an adapter that can be used behind the radio that will give you switched 12 volts. Running your own power cable will certainly be the cheapest route. All you need is about 5 meters of cable and wire tap. If you need further assistance, send me an email.

Hyundai Veracruz and the stereo power problems?
I love my new Veracruz, but two annoying issues that I would like some information on ignition: It takes too many turns of the motor to start the veracruz. About 80% of the time will not start unless you try it a second time. My dealer checked out but can not find any fault with the starter motor. I think I might have something to do with the fuel line, but also ruled out. Radio: Am I radion change the settings (bass / treble, etc.) and then turn off the car to restart lose these values and a return to the old. This also occurs with radio stations and CD tracks. Installing new car speakers into toyota, but keeping factory stereo- good idea?
For my moms birthday I want to get her some new speakers installed into her 2007 toyota tacoma.
She has a cd player/radio factory stereo installed and I do not have the money to get her a new stereo aswell.
would it still sound good, or have enough power if i just install new speakers?
Also she is not looking to shake the neighborhood with some massive speakers, we just want more power and clarity. Any suggestions?
It will sound better, just look for speakers with high sensitivity ratings, and lower RMS ratings, I would say stay under 45 – 50 Watts RMS if you are not planning to amp them. Also speaker harnesses like these, http://www.crutchfield.com/App/Product/Item/Main.aspx?i=12071035 will allow you to add them easily, without messing with the factory wire. if you get the speakers from Crutchfield, they will give you the harness free.

Do I have to create an Autoplay file in order to have an mp3 CD auto-start in a car stereo that plays mp3 CDs?
I’m making some mp3 CD’s and did not know if I had to create a playlist, bat file, and autoplay file in order to have the CD start playing when it is inserted into a car stereo system that plays mp3 CDs.
Without knowing the model of the car stereo, it’s hard to say.
So… why not just create all 3 (playlist, autorun.inf, and .bat)?? That won’t hurt anything. Then, the stereo will simply read what it has to and start playing.

The answer is No.
You cannot send raw digital data into an analogue jack. It’s physically impossible.
You can plug an mp3 player into it, that’s as close as you’re gonna come.

Hello, I just bought a 1999 Saab 9-3 and I was wondering if it is possible to replace the stereo with an aftermarket one, also the speakers as well. The reason I want to replace it is because the CD player doesn’t work, well it will play them but the disc gets stuck and won’t come out and 4 out of 6 of the speakers are blown out. I haven’t found any kind of kits online, I would like to use a cradle that fills in all the holes and snugly holds the new stereo and a wiring harness so none of the wiring has to be cut or spliced. Also would I still be able to use the power antenna that came with the car and the steering wheel controls. Thank You
Relatively simple to do, and there are plenty of providers who can provide you the stereo – although the integration may be a little tricky without the factory model. Finding one of hte same size may be tougher. However, the best company I know of to do this has also been the longest in the business – Crutchfield. Internet radio is moving in a new direction that is, in part, a response to the Digital Millennium Copyright Act. Following the DMCA, it was not economically feasible for thousands of internet radio stations to pay blanket fees for use of mainstream music. Therefore, a new market for royalty free independent music is being created. It is still not clear if independent internet radio will rival the power of terrestrial radio and it is also very difficult to measure the success of independent artists who may not be registered through Soundscan.
So, what might be the driving force behind this new development? I believe the only way for independent internet radio to succeed is to attract people. Hopefully, as people become aware of a reasonable alternative, it then becomes a matter of taste.
I think the timing may be right as we have been bombarded by the same songs mixed with a few new songs (averaging about 17 in rotation) for years now. Traditional music industry resources have diminished and infrastructure has downsized considerably. The downsizing of the traditional music industry can no longer provide enough music to satisfy the listening public.
Actually, supply has exceeded demand in the area of music for many years, but the supply is no longer limited to terrestrial radio and the majors. Many believe independent music is taking a small portion of the market share, but again, it is very difficult to measure as many sales go unreported. I believe the only real indicator will be the number of artists who are able to sustain themselves in the very near future. If independent internet radio survives, then we should see growth that is borne out of a return on investment rather than a love for music. It will take a while for the results to come in, but I suspect the Internal Revenue Service will be monitoring this very closely if it starts to show signs of life.
Meanwhile, royalty free internet radio does seem to be growing if you look at Live 365 or Shoutcast. In addition, I am able to Google hundreds of standalone stations that are playing independent music (I suspect I could find more if I had the time to dig a little deeper into the search results).
I think one element that will make independent internet radio a viable option will be the growth of mobile devices such as Blackberrys, iPhones, iPods, and a whole new generation of cell phones designed to offer the same new features as their competitors. The other element that will provide a boost will be the standardization of input jacks allowing mobile devices to play on car stereo systems.
The culture has already changed as young people are listening to music on their mobile devices. It will take a while for this culture to be accepted by older generations, but the signs are very positive as I just saw a granny at Target wearing ear buds. Seriously, this medium has become viable as it is now the medium of choice and will likely become the easiest to support in a growing market.
Another positive sign is the explosion of podcasting as an alternative to radio. Podcasts are programs that may be downloaded from the internet that bear many similarities to terrestrial radio with the exception of timing. Podcasts are not in real time, so call-ins must be recorded, for example. However, the only limits to podcasts are the rights to music that is played and the imagination of those folks who are creating the podcasts, called podcasters or casters. The music must be podcast friendly, or offer content (i.e. independent music) that is outside of the scope of the DMCA. Many popular podcasts like those featured at Mad Caster Networks are now featuring indie artists and reviews, which will help to provide indie artists with exposure to a larger number of potential fans.
There are some issues that remain for independent internet radio. For example, money remains a problem for many independent stations that are fueled by love for music and a desire to provide an open medium to deserving artists. It is also interesting that the majors are responding with their own internet stations which has a tendency to bury the independents in the search results. Guess what? The internet is the ultimate free market society. That is, a large component of success in gaining the top spots from search engines may be bought with advertising dollars. Yes, it is possible to organically grow a viable site based on good ol’ “word of mouth” and search engine optimization (or SEO), but money still talks. This will be one of the obstacles for independent internet radio, along with the possibility of more legislation influenced by music industry lobbies under the guise of protecting music.
